ACUTE TOXICITY OF PESTICIDE MIXTURES TO BLUEGILLS

The author empirically evaluated the acute toxicity of 29 two-chemical combinations to bluegills, Lepomis machrochirus, to attempt to discern possible trends in less than additive, additive, or greater than additive toxicity. Although indices expressing these trends are preliminary, the author hopes to stimulate the development of better methods for evaluating toxicity of combinations of chemicals and to call attention to mixtures that may be more toxic or less toxic to fish than the individual pesticides alone.
