摘要
The ultraviolet spectrum of gaseous H2B2O3 shows continuous absorption starting at about 2500 Å and extending to shorter wavelengths. The compound photochemically decomposes to yield B2O3(s) and H2(g) and reacts with B2H6 to yield boroxine (H3B3O3). Rates of the photochemical reactions are much higher than those observed for the thermal reactions and are accelerated by mercury photosensitization. Information on the mechanism of the B2Hβ-H2B2O3 reaction was derived from studies with selectively prepared isotopic species of H2B2O3. © 1968, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
