SIMPLE CONSTRUCTION OF STRONG MAGNETS REINFORCED BY ICE AND WOVEN GLASS CLOTHS FOR LONG HIGH PULSED FIELD

摘要
A simple and easy way of constructing multilayer wire-wound pulse magnet was devised. Strong pulse magnet was easily constructed by simply employing ice with woven-glass cloth as a reinforcement spacer between the layers. Magnetic fields over 55T have become available by using Nb-Ti filaments embedded in Cu matrix, within 18mm bore diameter with a pulse duration of about 8-20 ms. Even with ordinary Cu-wire, magnetic fields over 45T can be produced. Advantages of this method are the followings: (1) easy and fast construction of the magnet; (2) fast cooling time of the magnet after a strong pulse field generation; (3) reproducibility of the magnet performance.
