摘要
A time-of-flight method designed for accelerators with high particle burst rates is described. The method uses an independent energy measurement to resolve the ambiguity which arises when the primary pulse separation, length of flight path and energy range are outside the limits of conventional time-of-flight technique. The system can be used for an accurate determination of the energy of neutrons and charged reaction products, for very precise calibration of the primary beam energy and for particle identification in case of charged reaction products. The method is being used at the Karlsruhe isochronous cyclotron for nuclear reaction studies. In the course of our investigations of the cyclotron beam properties, we measured burst widths down to 0.2 nsec. © 1969.
