摘要
Atmospheric sulfate aerosols from industrial emissions are of international concern because of their global prevalence and potential irritant or toxic effects on human health. To assess hazards following inhalation exposure, the total dose delivered to the human respiratory tract and its regional distribution must be determined. It is known that such information can be expressed as a function of the mass median aerodynamic diameter (MMAD) of an inhaled aerosol. Experimental and theoretical data have been used that describe particle sizes as a function of temperature (T) and relative humidity (RH) as computer subroutines of an aerosol deposition model to calculate the dose dispersion of sulfate aerosols in man for two different T and RH environments corresponding approximately to nasal and oral breathing.
