TIME-DEPENDENT DIFFUSIVITY OF AU IN AMORPHOUS PD40NI40P20 MEASURED BY RUTHERFORD-BACKSCATTERING SPECTROMETRY

摘要
The diffusivity of ion implanted Au in amorphous Pd40Ni40P20 has been measured. Rutherford-backscattering spectrometry was used to determine the Au concentration profile in the amorphous matrix. It is shown that the accuracy of Rutherford-back-scattering spectrometry is sufficient to detect the influence of structural relaxation at T = 545 K on the diffusivity of Au in amorphous Pd40Ni40P20. The equilibrium diffusivity studied at three temperatures indicates a temperature-dependent equilibrium state for the metallic glass.
