HIGH-RESOLUTION INFRARED-SPECTROSCOPY OF ADSORBATES ON IONIC-CRYSTAL SURFACES

摘要
Infrared spectra of adsorbates on ionic single crystal surfaces were measured using high resolution polarized Fourier-transform spectroscopy in transmission: CO2 on NaCl(100) and CO on NaCl(100). Spectral lines of widths less-than-or-equal-to 0.04 cm-1 were observed, the sharpest of adsorbates known. The kind of information derived in the fields of vibrations, structure, thermodynamics and dynamics on surfaces is illustrated.
