MICRO-RAMAN ANALYSIS OF PRECIPITATES ON YBA2CU3O7-DELTA FILMS

We present micro-Raman spectra of different precipitates that are frequently observed on laser-deposited YBa2Cu3O7-delta films. Especially, we investigate two distinct types of droplets. Spherical droplets with smooth surfaces exhibit strong Raman lines at 510, 560, 595 and 628 cm(-1) and weaker ones at 132, 233, 266 and 306 cm(-1). All these modes are attributed to Ba2Cu3O59. The other type of droplet displays a substructure in the scanning electron microscope (SEM) and is identified as polycrystalline YBa2Cu3O7-delta, without preferential orientation. Needles growing at a 45 degrees angle with respect to the a/lb-axes of the film matrix are identified as tenorite (CuO) precipitates.
