The dose equivalent response of a new type of electronic personal neutron dosemeter was measured in the reference neutron fields of the PTB at various energies between thermal and 19 MeV and with neutrons from Cf-252 neutron sources. The dosemeter, irradiated on a phantom, exhibits an over-response of up to a factor 70 at energies between 200 eV and 100 keV. This may lead to misinterpretation of the dosemeter reading when even small quantities of low energy neutrons are present.
