ON THE TOTAL ELECTRONIC-ENERGY AND THE MAGNETIC-PROPERTIES OF PURE AND NITROGENATED Y2FE17 COMPOUNDS

摘要
The local magnetic moments at the various Fe and Y sites in Y2Fe17 have been calculated as functions of the unit cell volume, using the tight-binding LMTO-ASA method. By this volume dilatation upon nitrogenation which is responsible for the modification of the magnetic properties is simulated. Whereas the zero-temperature magnetization only increases by about 10% for the experimentally observed volume dilatation , the magnetic contribution to the total energy increases by 75%.
