摘要
Pre-harvest sprouting and seed dormancy cause financial losses for the barley seed users and end product processors. These phenomena are problems especially in rainy harvesting seasons. In barley research work has concentrated on morphological, anatomical and hormonal features of cultivars that affect the tendency to pre-harvest sprouting. Farmers and maltsters would need a mathematical model to predict the best harvesting time for malting barley. Biochemical markers can be used to test pre-harvest sprouting. A genome map and an RFLP map of barley have been created.
