SURFACE MELTING ON ANTARCTIC PENINSULA ICE SHELVES DETECTED BY PASSIVE MICROWAVE SENSORS

摘要
A 13 year time series of spaceborne passive microwave radiance measurements over the Antarctic Peninsula ice shelves, reveals a systematic increase in the duration of the summer melt season. Combined with data from meteorological stations on the Antarctic Peninsula, the annual motion and long-term trends of the 0-degrees-C isotherm can be monitored.
