THERMODYNAMIC EVIDENCE FOR A STRUCTURAL TRANSITION OF LIQUID TE IN THE SUPERCOOLED REGION

摘要
The specific heat, thermal expansion coefficient and compressibility of liquid Te have been measured to investigate the structural transition expected in the supercooled states. All these thermodynamic functions have extrema at 353 +/- 3-degrees-C, a fact which provides clear evidence for the structural change of Te to the twofold liquid in the supercooled region. It is shown that Ehrenfest's relations are satisfied among the excess specific heat, isothermal compressibility and thermal expansion coefficient associated with the sructural change.
