摘要
Silica, added to prevent sintering, preserve acicularity, and increase coercivity also causes a previously unreported loss of magnetic moment. A chemical reaction between SiO//2 and Fe**2** plus to form a new compound (Fe//2SiO//4) is proposed and supported by several analytical techniques.
