TEMPERATURE-DEPENDENCE OF THE THRESHOLD ELECTRIC-FIELD FOR DEPINNING OF THE SPIN-DENSITY WAVE IN QUENCHED (TMTSF)2CLO4

Threshold electric field E(T) for depinning of the spin-density wave was studied in quenched (TMTSF)2ClO4. With lowering temperature, E(T) decreases monotonously, typically from 70 mV/cm to 20 mV/cm, in the temperature range 0.2 < T/T(c) < 0.8, where T(c) congruent-to 5.6 K is the transition temperature. The temperature dependence of E(T) in (TMTSF)2ClO4 is stronger than those in (TMTSF)2NO3 and (TMTSF)2PF6 observed by Tomic et al. and Kang et al., respectively. One of the possible explanations for the stronger temperature dependence of E(T) is the imperfect nesting of the Fermi surface, as proposed by Huang and Maki.
