OBTAINING KINETIC DATA OF ENERGETIC MATERIAL DECOMPOSITION BY DIFFERENTIAL THERMAL-ANALYSIS

A study was made by differential thermal analysis (DTA) to obtain thc kinetic parameters of decomposition of energetic materials. The calculation utilized direct experimental results as well as thc model described earlier by the authors. Thc energetic materials investigated were TNT, Tetryl, PETN, RDX, and HMX. The kinetic data obtained were in very good agreement with literature data. The characteristics of thermal decomposition of these explosives were determined. The effect of heating rate on thc decomposition of thc explosives was also studied.
