摘要
We have used the VLA to synthesize the emission in the lambda-21 cm line of H I from galaxies in a single field in the cluster A1367. This field was chosen because it contains three out of four galaxies which show peculiarities in their single-dish H I spectra as measured from Arecibo. In addition, they have disturbed optical and radio continuum morphologies, including asymmetric distribution of brightness and optical color, and extended radio tails pointing away from the cluster center. The VLA H I maps confirm that the atomic gas in these galaxies is displaced from the optical centers; the gas is distributed asymmetrically as suggested by the single-dish spectra. We take this to be evidence for interaction between the cluster medium and the galaxy gas disks. As the asymmetries seen here would smear out because of differential rotation in a few disk rotation periods, these galaxies are probably entering for the first time the dense medium of the cluster core.
