摘要
The situation in regard to emissions of mercury (Hg) from incineration of municipal solid waste (MSW) in the United States (U.S.) has been examined. Taken as a whole it is projected that total annual nationwide MSW incinerator emissions of mercury could decrease from about 97 tonnes (1989 baseline uncontrolled emissions) to less than about 4 tonnes in the year 2000. This corresponds approximately to a 95 percent reduction in the amount of mercury emitted from incinerated MSW compared to the 1989 (unabated) mercury emissions baseline.
