A COMPARISON OF THE TOXICITY OF CADMIUM TO THE MYSID SHRIMPS NEOMYSIS-INTEGER (LEACH) AND MYSIDOPSIS-BAHIA (MOLENOCK)

摘要
This report describes a comparison of the toxicity of cadmium to the mysid shrimps Neomysis integer and Mysidopsis bahia. Adults were exposed to a range of cadmium concentrations at 20 and 25 degrees C. The estimated LC(50)s for N. integer were 1.38 mu gCd 1(-1) (20 degrees C) and 2.43 mu gCd 1(-1) (25 degrees C); the equivalent estimates for M. bahia were 2.05 mu gCd 1(-1) (20 degrees C) and 10.30 mu gCd 1(-1) (25 degrees C). The results suggest that N. integer may be an appropriate European estuarine species for testing the toxic effects of chemicals.
