AG DISTRIBUTION IN A SUPERCONDUCTING AG-BA-CA-CU-O SAMPLE

A sample with the nominal composition of Ag:Ba:Ca:Cu=1:2:3:4 synthesized under high pressure showed superconductivity at 112 K, according to DC magnetic susceptibility measurements. Electron diffraction analysis indicated that the main phase had a perovskite-related structure with a primitive tetragonal unit cell of the lattice parameters, a=3.85 angstrom and c=21.4 angstrom. selected-area EDX analysis revealed the existence of only Ba, Ca and Cu but no Ag in the perovskite-related matrix phase. Ag-rich small particles were detected by TEM observation and EDX analysis.
