摘要
The wear resistance of ion-implanted Ti-6A1-4V test specimens was measured with a pin-on-disk wear tester. The samples were implanted by the plasma source ion implantation (PSII) technique using 50 keV nitrogen ions. Empirical models for both the wear depth and the wear lifetime were developed and the results were compared to unimplanted samples. PSII was shown to improve the wear resistance by factors of 20 to 55, depending on the applied load. © 1990 Springer-Verlag New York Inc.
