RADICAL POLYMERIZATION OF 2-AMINOMETHYLMETHACRYLATES WITH METHYLMETHACRYLATE

摘要
The homopolymerisation of 2-dimethylaminoethylmethacrylate (DMAEMA) has been carried out at 50, 60 and 80 degrees C. In order to quantify residual monomer vs time along that reaction, gas chromatography technique was used. This kinetic study allows us to assess the overall rate constants. The values are respectively 5.09 x 10(-4), 9.67 x 10(-4) and 5.35 x 10(-3) 1(1/2) mol(-1/2) sec(-1). Radical bulk copolymerisations of DMAEMA (monomer Al), 2-diethylaminoethylmethacrylate (DEAEMA, monomer A2) and 2-benzylmethylaminoethylmethacrylate (BMAEMA, monomer A3) with methylmethacrylate (MMA, B) were carried out using azobisisobutyronitrile as initiator. Copolymers composition have been obtained through H-1-NMR and microanalysis. From low conversion, the reactivity ratios for the three couples A1-B, A2-B and A3-B have been assessed and are respectively (1.30, 0.74), (1.27, 0.89) and (0.34, 0.59). Monomers A2 and A3 have been prepared by methylmethacrylate transesterification reaction from 2-diethylaminoethanol and 2-benzylmethylaminoethanol respectively. These monomers have been characterised by H-1-, C-13-NMR and IR.
