AC impedance measurements were carried out in order to study the relaxation processes in the electrode system Bi/Bi2O3/glycol borate electrolyte. Measurements during anodization, as well as in the relaxation period after switching off the polarization, reveal a complex picture. In addition to the kinetic and mass transport limitations, a medium frequency loop consisting of a negative resistance in parallel with a negative capacitance is observed. It is believed to be due to the dissipation of the space charge formed during anodization. A simple kinetic model is used in order to explain the impedance spectra features.
