A PHOTOELECTRODE ARRAY SYSTEM FOR HYDROGEN-PRODUCTION FROM SOLAR WATER SPLITTING

摘要
A bipolar semiconductor photoelectrode array (BSPA) system for unassisted water photoelectrolysis is presented. A mathematical model describes the relationship between the water splitting efficiency and photovoltaic efficiency and how these quantities depend on the number of photoelectrodes, the overpotentials of the electrodes involved in gas generation, radiation flux and electrolyte concentration. A review of some experimental and simulation results is used to illustrate the model, pointing out how these factors affect the BSPA system performance aroud the optimum operating conditions.
