THE FARADAY-EFFECT IN SEMIMAGNETIC SEMICONDUCTORS

摘要
Experimental and theoretical studies of the Faraday effect in a new class of materials - semimagnetic semiconductors (SS) have been received. Mechanisms of the giant Faraday effect in SS based on s, the p-d exchange interaction of excitons, electrons and holes with magnetic ions have been discussed. Faraday rotation as a function of a radiation wavelength, magnetic component concentration, temperature, magnetic field intensity for crystals A2B6-opening-elbow-Mn-closing-elbow A2(x+1)Mn(x)B6: and other SS (GaAs-opening-elbow-Mn-closing-elbow, CdP2-opening-elbowMn-closing-elbow, Pb(1-x)Mn(x)I2) have been considered. We have attended to use FR for the study of a paramagnetic-spin glass transmission for determining the role of the relaxation effects with a participation of magnetic Mn2+ ions, excitons, polarons in the direct and inverse Faraday effects. In addition the features of FR in thin films of SS and in spin superlattices have for developing magnetooptic devices (optical isolators and fibre optic sensors of magnetic fields). 3 tabls. 25 figs. 82 refs.
