I construct a model in which constituent quarks arise as solitons made out of current quarks, antiquarks, and glue. These objects - called qualitons - look on large-distance scales like the chiral quarks considered by Georgi and Manohar; at shorter scales they are seen to have both current quark and gluon structure. Questions such as the gluon and flavor content of constituent quarks can be addressed in this model, as well as the anomalous magnetic and color-magnetic moments of a constituent quark. In addition to constituent quarks, the model also contains excited quark states, the lightest transforming as a (6BAR, 1/2) under color x spin with baryon number B = 1/3.
