THE INFLUENCE OF THE ELECTRODE MATERIAL ON THE SENSITIVITY OF AN SNO2 THICK-FILM GAS SENSOR

Sensors with active SnO2 film were produced according to the typical thick-film technology on ceramic Al2O3 substrate. The sensors were printed in both sandwich and comb structure. Heaters were printed on the opposite site of the substrate. Pt, Au, RuO2 and NiP films were examined as sensor electrodes. The resistance of the sensors as a function of the following vapour gas concentration was measured: methanol and ethanol, acetone and ethyl acetate. It was found that the sensitivity of the sensor depends strongly on the kind of the electrode material.
