PROPERTIES OF HIGH-LYING DOUBLY-EXCITED STATES OF NE8+ POPULATED DURING NE10++HE COLLISIONS

Double electron capture occuring during Ne10+ + He collisions in the keV/amu energy range produces Ne8+ (4, 4) states which strongly interact with adjacent Ne8+(3, n) Rydberg states. On the basis of a complete analysis of correlations in the doubly-excited isolated ion, we study the post-collisional evolution of the Ne8+ + He2+ system. Emphasis is put on the electron spectrum resulting from autoionization. The theoretical electron spectrum is compared with recent high resolution electron spectrometry results. The stabilization process is also discussed.
