EDITORIAL COMMENT: Although we have reported a similar case recently (Bowditch, table 1) we accepted this case for publication because it also reviews the literature concerning laparoscopic surgery during pregnancy. We need more data before concluding that laparoscopy is less likely to result in spontaneous abortion than laparotomy, which certainly has an appreciable risk of this complication when performed before 16 weeks' gestation.
