THE UNCOUPLED O-H OR O-D STRETCH IN WATER AS AN INTERNAL-PRESSURE GAUGE FOR HIGH-PRESSURE INFRARED-SPECTROSCOPY OF AQUEOUS SYSTEMS

摘要
In this work the frequency shift of the nu //O//H and nu //O//D bands as a function of pressure has been measured and calibrated with the crystalline quartz technique. The presure dependences of the nu //O//H and nu //O//D frequencies obtained in the work can be used to determine the pressures of aqueous samples for high-pressure infrared spectroscopy. This work is particularly useful for aqueous biomembrane systems in which quartz bands and lipid bands interfere with each other at pressures above 20 kbar.
