THE INFLUENCE OF THE MAGNETOSTRICTION ON THE COERCIVITY OF AMORPHOUS RIBBONS

Amorphous ribbons of the composition Co80-xFexB20 (0≤x≤6) and Fe80-xRxB20 with R = Y, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Ho, Er, Tm, Lu and 0≤x≤12 were prepared by the single roller technique. In order to characterize the samples the hysteresis loop and its stress dependence were measured. The coercivity of these materials is correlated with the magnetostriction. Therefore the magnetostriction constant λs were determined also. All experiments were performed at room temperature. The general correlation between Hc and λs could be shown. © 1990.
