摘要
A beam expanding fiber (BEF) for embedding optical devices has been fabricated by utilizing thermally induced Ge diffusion in silica single-mode fibers (SMF’s). The beam expanding fiber has specific features that the fiber can change the spot size of a propagating mode arbitrarily without changing the normalized frequency. The fiber is a promising component to realize fiber-embedded optical devices. © 1990, IEEE.
