摘要
Coal can be "cleaned", with the elimination of iron pyrite, clay, and other hydrophilic impurities, by a process known as oil agglomeration. Liquid bridges formed by water droplets between coal particles under a hydrocarbon such as pentane, stabilize agglomerates of coal; but hydrophilic solids are rejected and retained in suspension. An elementary theory of the stability of aggregates of hydrophobic particles is developed.
