摘要
One of the most important considerations in the design of a coastal structure is an understanding of the characteristics of wave runup. Because of this, a number of formulas have been developed to predict wave runup elevations. The value of a runup formula lies not only in its ability to predict wave runup and in its convenience of use, but also because the terms and coefficients can be examined to gain insight into the nature of the physical processes. This note comments on some runup formulas and develops a method, using formulas, which makes accurate runup predictions for a wide range of conditions.
