摘要
Pulse-feeding of appropriate amino acids to rapidly-growing callus of Ceanothus americanus led to accumulation of novel tetrapeptides that were precursors of the macrocyclic alkaloids characteristic of the field-grown plant. Slow-growing pigmented callus lines maintained on a variety of media exhibited no detectable alkaloid metabolism but accumulated several flavonoids, some previously not reported in the plant.
