SLIP AND JUMP COEFFICIENTS FOR RAREFIED-GAS FLOWS - VARIATIONAL RESULTS FOR LENNARD-JONES AND N(R)-6 POTENTIALS

摘要
Slip and jump coefficients are fundamental to the description of departures of gas flows from the continuum limit. Here we evaluate previously reported variational expressions for the Lennard-Jones, and n(r)-6 potentials, and we give best-estimate values corresponding to several monatomic gases (helium, neon, argon, xenon). The results show the weak dependence of the velocity slip and temperature jump, and the comparatively strong dependence of the creep slip on the intermolecular potential. The creep slip results compare well with the data of Weber and Annis. The present compilation of numerical values for several gases should be useful in computation of near continuum rarefied gas flows. © 1990.
