摘要
Analysis of modern control samples of the American oyster (Crassostrea. virginica) from the Chesapeake Bay shows that reliable estimates of season of death can be derived from analyses of shell microgrowth structures on the anterior nympha of the hinge area. Application of the technique to prehistoric Delmarva Peninsula oyster shell midden samples shows considerable temporal and spatial variation in the seasonal utilization of oysters. © 1990.
