Observations were made of an 18-year-old male that complained of being unable to smell. Simple tests, using strong odors such as acetic acid, methyl salicylate (synthetic oil of wintergreen), and vanilla, verified the anodmia. Study of the family revealed that two additional relatives have anodmia and that all three have red hair. There are no other known cases of red hair or anodmia in this family. © 1968 by the American Genetics Association.
