2D-FROTH - A PROGRAM FOR THE INVESTIGATION OF 2-DIMENSIONAL FROTHS

2D-FROTH is a program for the simulation of the structure of the two-dimensional soap froth. The evolution in time of this system (due to diffusion between cells) is of considerable current interest, as are its rheological properties. Using the standard idealised model of the froth, the program creates a finite sample with periodic boundary conditions and equilibrates it by an iterative procedure. The effect of diffusion can be studied by repeatedly changing the cell areas and re-equilibrating. Stress-strain relations may be calculated by changing the dimensions of the sample. With graphical output, these and other calculations can provide illustrations of many properties and basic features of froths. © 1990.
