摘要
The life history of B. quadripustulata (F.), was studied in Jackson County, Illinois [USA], March-Nov. 1975, and the immature stages were described. It was also reared in the laboratory. Adults of this univoltine species overwintered under the bark of dead standing trees and became active in late April. They reproduced on immature black walnut, Juglans nigra L. The seasonal occurrence of the subsequent stages is discussed. Most old adults were dead by late June; new adults first appeared in Aug. and were last observed in mid-Oct. This species was reared on cuttings of black walnut under a 12L [light]: 12D [dark] photoperiod and constant temperature. The incubation period averaged 10.65 days. Durations of the 5 subsequent stadia averaged 9.14, 19.16, 42.68, 58.39 and 42.78 days, respectively. Brochymena arborea (Say) was reared in the laboratory from egg through 4th instar. The incubation period averaged 11.00 days. The durations of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th stadia averaged 7.00, 18.67, 42.83 and 73.80 days, respectively.
