SAXS INVESTIGATION OF MODEL CARBON PORE STRUCTURE AND ITS CHANGE WITH GASIFICATION

摘要
The evolution of the internal structure of a model process carbon, Carbosieve-S, during gasification with CO2 is studied by small angle x-ray scattering (SAXS). The SAXS data are interpreted using a random pore structure model based on a three-dimensional Voronoi tessellation. This model contains voids of random shape and various size. By fitting the predicted scattering to observed scattering intensities versus scattering vector for partially converted samples, pore structure parameters for the micro and mesoporosity as well as the surface area are determined as a function of gasification conversion. The utility of the model and SAXS in studying changing pore structures is discussed.
