Schlogl integration has been used in order to determine the diffusion potential over weak cation exchange membranes. More specifically, we have used the parameters earlier determined by EMF measurements on dense cellulose acetate membranes separating two electrolyte solutions. Except in a few cases, the difference between the calculated diffusion potentials using Henderson and Schlogl integration is negligible. However, the Schlogl method enables an estimation of the concentration profiles through the membrane. We have especially focussed on the Schlogl solution in cases with two valency classes only.
