摘要
Labor market segmentation plays a crucial role in explanations provided for important issues such as rural-urban migration, urban poverty, unemployment, underemployment, and growth. The author conducts a range of tests for such segmentation in San Jose. Firstly, using a Chow test, he tests the hypothesis that wage equations are different for workers in the different sectors. Then, he tests if observationally identical workers have higher expected wages in the upper sectors than the lower sectors, and lastly examines if mobility between sectors is limited. The results indicate that the labor market is indeed segmented in San Jose. -after Author
