In order to study solid-liquid equilibria in multicomponent electrolyte systems, an automated conductimetric analysis device has been built and perfected. The principles of design and working are based on conductivity measurements in polyphased mixtures, without removing samples, either in the stirred mixture or in the decanted clear solution. Under these conditions, experimental determinations of phase transformations can be optimized and accurate results may be rapidly obtained. All the features of an isothermal section in a phase diagram may be deduced from such measurements. As an illustration, the ternary systems water-ammonium chloride-sodium chloride and water-magnesium chloride-calcium chloride have been established respectively at 15 and 25-degrees-C.
