MAGNESIUM-SULFATE EFFECTS ON 3 STRAINS OF EGG TYPE HENS

摘要
Three commercial, egg-type strains of White Leghorn hens were given 0, 12,00 and 16,000 ppm of MgSO4 in their drinking water for 20 wk. All levels of MgSO4 .times. strain combinations had similar percentage drops in egg production, varying from 6.9-10.3%. Hens given 12,000 ppm MgSO4 laid significantly heavier eggs than those receiving 0 or 16,000 ppm. Water consumption increased as level of MgSO4 increased; 217, 321 and 379 ml/hen-day for 0, 12,000 and 16,000 ppm of MgSO4, respectively.
