SPIN GLASS-LIKE FEATURES AND INHOMOGENEOUS FORMS OF MAGNETISM IN HEAVY FERMION SYSTEMS

摘要
Recent muSR spectroscopy studies of Ce-, Sm-, Yb-, and U-based, so-called heavy fermion compounds reveal rather complex magnetic ground states which on one hand, seem to be characterized by random, incommensurate or extremely short-range order, often associated with coexisting paramagnetic domains even in monocrystalline samples, and on the other hand, by extremely small moments reaching down to 10(-3) mu(B).
