Samples of NdNi1-xFexO3 and NdNi1-xCoxO3 have been prepared using a sol-gel method and characterized by means of X-ray diffraction, magnetic susceptibility and electrical resistivity measurements. The solid solutions are possible in the whole concentration range with the consequent changes in the unit cell parameters. Electrical properties change strongly with low percentages of Ni replacements. For x = 0.1, the metal-insulator transition with thermal hysteresis is hidden. Samples with higher Fe or Co content are semiconductors showing temperature-dependent activation energy and following a variable range hopping mechanism. Magnetic susceptibility follows a Curie-Weiss-like behaviour. The magnetic moments for NdNi1-xFexO3 correspond to the addition of the Nd3+ and Fe3+ sublattices. For NdNi1-xCoxO3 samples, the cobalt ion is nearly in low spin state (S = 0).
