摘要
An integrated free-form-shape design and manufacturing system has been developed. The system runs on an engineering workstation with a 3D color display. It provides various means for designers to input their ideas and to modify them to develop an aesthetically pleasing free-form shape. The shape can be examined using a variety of display techniques, and the system automatically generates collision-free tool paths for rough and fine cuts from the designed shape, taking into account engineering factors such as heat-shrinkage compensation of the material used, and the gap compensation of electrodes.
