FLUORESCENCE LIFETIMES OF SUPERSENSITIZING SYSTEMS AND DYES ADSORBED ONTO TIO2

摘要
The absorption and fluorescence spectra of eight dyes adsorbed onto the Lippmann AgBr microcrystal system and the TiO2 system were measured. The spectra of isopropanolic dye solutions were also recorded. By comparing the fluorescence decays of the dyes adsorbed onto the AgBr microcrystal system with those of the dyes adsorbed onto the inert TiO2 reference system, the quenching of the fluorescence emission of a sensitive dye by a supersensitizing dye has been observed. The supersensitizer shortens the fluorescence lifetime of the supersensitizing system. An energy transfer process occurs during supersensitization. It can be concluded that there are many energy acceptors in the AgBr microcrystal.
