摘要
The work functions of Ir(111) and Pt(111) were determined at surface temperatures above 1100 K with three different methods: surface ionization, atomic desorption and mean residence time measurements of Li. The coverage of the surface with Li was always below 10(-3) of a monolayer. All these methods directly or indirectly use the Langmuir-Saha equation. The mean values of the work functions obtained are 5.70 +/- 0.02 eV for Ir(111) and 5.77 +/- 0.02 eV for Pt(111) at surface temperatures of about 1100 to 1400 K.
